The importance of Feedback Strategies

The Article I chose to read: "Preschoolers and Praise: What Kinds of Messages Help Kids Grow?" by Deborah Farmer Kris.
This was a very interesting article I read, and I feel as though it has very valuable information. I find the point of elaborating the compliment very interesting. As the article stated, don't just say "Good Job" say "Good job sharing with your sister". This applies even to adults, even if it has a different effect. Some adults may hear you say "Good job" and feel as though you don't mean it, considering it sounds as if you were not paying attention. Yes, I feel confident about giving people feedback, I feel it is something I have greatly worked on in my life. I feel an important strategy I use when giving feedback is the sandwich method. The sandwich method is how you deliver the criticism, you can say a compliment followed by the criticism then follow it by another compliment. This is very important because it doesn't make you come off as a arrogant person.

  1. Hello Evan, I did not choose this article so I enjoyed reading your feedback on it. That is very true and something I have not thought of before about explaining what someone is good at can be much more power than just a blanket statement and one we hear all the time. Giving encouragement and pointing out a specific reason why can leave a way bigger impression on someone and I agree can make a big difference on someone.
